🌸Pink Popcorn🌸
The cherry blossoms came and went. I love how the blossoms bring the spring with a boom! While most other trees are still sleeping they're having a blast! 😄 Jeju is a very good place to see cherry blossoms (they are basically everywhere) and this year they came about two weeks earlier than last year and had their peak at the end of March. I have some good memories from last year when Heidi and Linn visited but this year's blooming was - even though a bit calmer - still a happy time!
Last year we went to the festival at Jedae (Jeju Uni) but this year we kind of missed it because when we got there only a few stalls with street food and festival items were found so we only bought a box of 엿 - traditional taffy to munch on. The pumpkin taffy was sweet and I got to see the big cherry trees in full bloom so I was happy anyway! x)
The festival at Jeonnong-ro (전농로) was a different story. 😁 Walking down a looong street filled with cherry blossoms and people taking pictures and eating all sorts of yummy food and snacks is my favourite way to enjoy the blossoms.
My all time favourite snack is 'tornado potato' 😋..
.. but the butter fried squid legs/arms/tentacles (? 😂) are yummy as well. 👍
Another good thing is that they block off some parts of the street from cars during the festival so one can walk around freely. 👍
I love the festivals but sometimes to simply go for a walk and get away from the crowds to look at the flowers in a more quiet place while listening to some spring-related music is a good one as well! ^^
Not only the trees are blomming this month but also cafes, shops and restaurants as well. One can get all sorts of cherry blossom flavoured or decorated items. Snacks, milk, drinks and even instant noodles and pasta! 😂 I had a Latte and some decorated noodles. 👍 Cute!
Psst! Here are a few clips from last year blossom and the festival at Jedae..!
