Pink Grass & a Lonely Tree

The fall is slowly setting in Jeju. Green leaves are turning yellow, orange and red before they silently fall to the ground to then be swept away by the ocean winds...

The fall foliage is beautiful scenery but not the only one typical for fall, at least in slightly milder places, like Jeju.

As I probably said other times the start of fall here is like a second spring - a season for other types of flowers and crops to bloom; cosmos in hot to pale pink and orange, white fields of buckwheat flowers, radiant orange tangerine plantations... and grass. ^^

Except for the typical 억새꽃 - golden Pampas grass that is seen throughout fall and most of the winter here - nowadays a new star is rising among the grass types; The pink muhly.

People seem to love it and go to popular pink muhly cafés to take loads of selfies with that pinkish grass... and so did we. XD

There is a cafe in Andeok called Manor Blanc* (마노르 블랑) with a biiig garden full of plants and flowers and cute photo zones (even a grand piano!) and so you can either buy a drink at the cafe (obviously pricier compared to a normal cafe - between 6k and 10k won for a drink I'd say) or just pay the entrance fee which was 3000 won.

Small advice here is to not go during the weekend - it was crowded and it wasn't even particularly nice weather that day XD - cold, windy and cloudy - but even so half of the island seemed to be at that café that day. ^^

We decided to pay a simple entrance fee for one of us and then one drink to share - we actually just had coffee and lunch before so I was already full - We ordered a hot cup of omija tea for about 8000 won and it was decent. Warm and cozy! I love to drink omija tea on a chilly day. It tastes slightly sour and tart and reminds me a lot of hot lingonberry drink/ade.

The cafe/garden is very nice located with a lot of green in its surroundings and a beautiful view over Sanbangsan and the southwestern part of Jeju-do.

The last pic I took is from a place close to Saebyeoloreum - the lonely tree (새별오름 나홀로나무) It's a quite popular photo zone (again selfies! Haha) and well nothing else really. I was simply curious about it so we passed by there on our way back.

What I liked about it though was that there were not many people there and that the area is very open with nothing much around which can be a bit difficult to find sometimes here in Jeju ^.~

*Apparently it's open every day and between 10 am and 8 pm.
